Meet the CS Team
Colorspace was founded in 2013 by Sarah Simpson and John David Carson to explore architecture and sustainable development in the Central Texas area. Both natives of San Marcos, Texas, Carson and Simpson bring different areas of expertise to the firm but together, share an enthusiasm for bettering the areas in which they live and promoting progressive ideas that will improve the lives of both people and the natural world of which we are a part.
SARAH SIMPSON
ARCHITECT, URBAN DESIGNER, & CO-FOUNDER
As a graduate of both Rice University's Professional Bachelor of Architecture program and the University of Texas at Austin's Post Professional Master in Urban Design program, Sarah is passionate about design at all scales - from architectural details to neighborhood planning. She is inspired by all aspects of the design process and believes in the value of maintaining team continuity throughout the life of a project, from the conceptual phase through construction administration.
Sarah earned her architect's license in 2012 and is registered in the state of Texas. She has worked with firms such as Machado & Silvetti Associates in Boston, SOM in Chicago, and BGKA and BOKA Powell in Austin on projects ranging from university art museums to high-rise hospitality, mixed-use commercial and housing to commercial finish outs.
Sarah's understanding and love of design is derived from an interest in humanly interaction with both the built and natural world, and she is particularly fascinated with how design can enhance societal relationships and bring joy to individual lives while contributing to networks of ecology and biodiversity.
